In Just A Few Weeks, The Youngest Convicted Murderers In The Country Will Walk Free: Can You Believe Their Crime?

In just a few weeks, the youngest murderer in the country will walk free. Curtis Fairchild Jones has been imprisoned since he was 12-years old, along with his then 13-year-old sister, Catherine. The two admitted to murdering their father’s girlfriend, Sonya Nicole Speights in 1999 and have been in the hands of the law ever since.
Initially, many thought that they killed out of jealousy, although it is now believed that there was sexual abuse taking place in the household. The children said their father and another male relative were sexually abusing them.

The siblings made multiple pleas for help, but their father and his girlfriend were unresponsive, so they made plans to hurt all three.
There was a short investigation by the Department of Children and Families which acknowledged the sexual abuse, but they did nothing to stop it and the investigation was soon closed.

A few days after the investigation was closed, the male relative walked in on Catherine in the shower and the abuse continued. In her journal, Catherine wrote that she was going to kill them all and told her brother, Curtis, about her plan. He agreed to help her and, with their father’s 9mm, they shot his girlfriend first.

The siblings freaked out after the first murder and went to hide in the woods immediately afterwards. The police came to get them the next morning the two became the youngest children to be tried as adults for first-degree murder. The two, with the aid of their lawyer, pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge and were each sentenced to 18 years. Now, the siblings are both getting ready to be released, with Curtis coming out before Catherine.
The duo will face lifetime probation and a hefty set of rules that they must follow if they do not wish to return to prison.

  1. They were being sexually abused and authorities knew of this crime!!! Why were the children not removed from these monster's care and they be put in jail for child molestation?? They were children and scared. Murder is wrong, but if you feel that no one will help you out of a horrific situation like this, they thought that was the only way. I think it's self defense. But because it was thought out, it was murder.
