LeBron James Rumored To Star In Space Jam Sequel!
Throw your hands in the air if you feel fine;lol, that was the anthem when we still had serious hoop dreams... lol, NBA superstar LeBron James is rumored to star in Warner Bros. Space Jam 2. Hold on: Michael Jordan's rival on the court will now become his successor on the big screen?
Warner Bros. has yet to confirm the sequel, yet two major clues suggest that the 1996 live-action/animation fantasy-comedy is destined to have a comeback. One, Warner Bros. recently filed new new patent regarding the trade marks for Space Jam last month according to USA Today. And two, LeBron James signed a partnership last Wednesday with the entertainment company that covered TV, cinema, and other digital projects. Kevin Tsujihara, Warner Bros. CEO and Chairman, said,
"LeBron James has one of the most powerful, well-known brands in the world and we are excited to be in business with him and his partner, Maverick Carter, and SpringHill Entertainment...The combination of LeBron's global media presence and Warner Bros.' unmatched production and distribution expertise is a big win for fans everywhere."
James has been dabbling in the entertainment industry, including his inclusion in the recent Amy Schumer comedy Train Wreck. The potential role in a Space Jam sequel would allow James to play himself, just as Jordan did LOL. In the original script, Jordan faced a team of wimpy aliens gone rogue after they stole the powers of famous NBA players. Along with his Loony Tunes team, they challenged the Monstars to a basketball game; winners were free, losers became slaves on the aliens' home planet. Do you think Warner Bros. will use this same plot device? Maybe the sequel will utilize A.I.s rather than aliens (that seems to be the villain theme as of late).
Some believe James is not fit for the part and may play more of a role in production of the film rather than acting himself. Other suggestions have included Seth Curry, the younger brother of NBA MVP Stephen Curry and son of former NBA player Dell Curry. The 25-year-old may need to still work on his development before hitting the film screen.
