Babangida introduced, legalised corruption in Nigeria, says Ali Chiroma
The
former Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Chairman, Comrade Ali Chiroma,
has accused Gen. Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida (rtd) of introducing all
forms of corruption in Nigeria during his regime.
He said Babangida did not only introduce it, but legalised and infused it in the country’s system.
“Babangida brought all the corruption fighting us today, which during
my time as NLC chairman fought him and all his corrupt policies,”
Chiroma said.
Chiroma said this during the 18th, 19th and 20th convocation of
Modibbo Adama University of Technology (MAUTECH), Yola, where he was
conferred with an honorary degree of letters (Honoris causal) by the
university.
Ali, who also said that he became the NLC chairman in 1982 when
Buhari is in power as the military Head of State, blamed Buhari for
ruling with all forms of Draconian laws, but with a guided principles,
lamented how Buhari was dethroned in a bloodless coup d’état by
Babangida.
“I supported the Buhari Government but I never liked him because of
his draconian laws, but I thank God Buhari is becoming a born again
politician, a sent saviour to save our country,”
Ali said.
Chiroma was awarded a Ph.D. degree – alongside the Former chairman of
the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Attahiru
Jega, who was awarded a Ph.D. of Technology and the first Vice-
Chancellor of MAUTECH, Prof Chukwu Atel Bal, was awarded Ph.D. of
