Borno: Vigilante Group Overpowers Boko Haram Insurgents, Kill 17

A vigilante group in Borno have killed seventeen members of the Boko Haram sect during an attackon their village.

Leader of the youth vigilance group in Lahou village, Apagu Bitrus, said the terrorists attacked Lahou at about 4pm on Wednesday but were overpowered.

“We slew 17 militants on Wednesday evening when they invaded Lahou village and equally seized two vehicles from them.”

‎He stated that the attackers were teenagers, whose ages he believed ranged from 12 to 17 years.

“I can confidently tell you that when we took the battle to them, some of them fled but we are going to bury those who were killed this morning (Thursday).”

He, however, lamented that a member of the youth vigilance group, who was a former councilor in the local government was killed by the terrorists in the attack.

Lahou is close to Ngulde in Askira-Uba Local Government Area, which is about 70 kilometres to Biu, the commercial centre of the south of Borno State.
